SEPTEMBER - JANE LEVERINGTON

Jane has recently relocated to Totnes in Devon & rediscovered her love of art & drawing. She is inspired by natural history; specifically sea life, flora and fauna. As well as English history, music culture, travel and the wider arts. The media used for most of her work is gouache, ink and line drawings, and more recently she has branched out into linocut and etched printmaking techniques.

JULY - Peter Simpson

Sands Road Framing Shop & Gallery is welcoming local artist; Peter Simpson to display throughout July. Peter paints mainly landscapes & seascapes and his style is inspired by Constable, Turner and John Chancellor. He works in oil on canvas, often sketching first in acrylic.

JUNE - Lynsey James

Lynsey James is a British/Australian artist now Sussex and Gloucestershire based. She studied at the University of Gloucestershire for a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree. The natural world is a constant source of inspiration for her paintings. Her current work, captures the essence of the movement of oceanic waters, using acrylic on canvas to intuitively create her interpretation of the dynamic energy of water. Various blue hues in the work convey a deeper spiritual element associated with this energy.

APRIL - Lee Armitage

We are very excited to be featuring Torbay artist Lee Armitage throughout April. Lee creates modern representations of sometimes familiar subjects using 'Hama Beads', sometimes referred to as 'Pixel Art'. These striking pieces of 3D artwork have to be seen in the flesh to be appreciated.

DECEMBER - CHRISTINE DURRANT

Christine Durrant is a Devon based artist who loves creating fun, vibrant textured art using a collage of new and vintage fabrics. Each piece is unique and made entirely from tiny pieces of fabric using shade and shape to create a final piece. She aims to evoke happiness from her work and loves how people take the time to look into the detail of each piece. She doesn't always choose a conventional subject, pose, composition or colour-scheme as she likes things to be unusual and different.

NOVEMBER - Susan Poole

We are featuring local artist Susan Poole throughout the month of November. Susan has a mixed art and academic background. She retains an ongoing fascination with animals as subjects, not least because of the versatility they present in terms of form, colour and surface texture. She also makes drawings and watercolour paintings of objects found in her environment that embody particular personal meanings, layers of which might be uncovered like archaeological strata.

JULY - Chris Bradley

Chris Bradley lives between Dartmoor and the South Devon coast, which is reflected in the wild nature of his work. Chris revels in bright, abstract designs. These dramatic and colourful pieces of art can bring the room to life with their modern, vibrant, contemporary and fresh feel. Chris' artwork is mixed-media on deep canvas; acrylic, acrylic ink, watercolour paints, as well as silicone and nail varnish to create texture.

DECEMBER- Rhian Wyn Harrison

Rhian is an artist and illustrator who works from her home studio in Paignton, Rhian creates lively and colourful mixed media illustrations on re-purposed old book pages and maps, they give her the inspiration for her interpretation between word and image. Drawn by hand the coloured with ink, gouache paint and pastel, Rhian uses traditional techniques rather than digital. Rhian has built up a large following for commissioned work, while successfully exhibiting at a number of galleries in Devon.

February 2015 Angela Cox

Angela explores various media, favouring watercolour or graphite and working in great detail, which forms the contemplative heart of her creative process. Angela likes to use a coloured background for her paintings that allows her to create a mood for the composition that reflects the original encounter with the subject, capturing the smallest details in her work is particular to each of the compositions.
